You can use this I believe.

Take a test server and zone it only one node say Node 0 (0:2:1).

Now you shut down the Node 0 manually (Do make sure all your servers (except test) having either 2 or 4 paths).
When you shut down the Test server, the Node 0(0:2:1) will automatically failover to Node 1 (1:2:1).

I think this explains the Persistance Port for you.
