Hi team,
A quick query, if can get the response quickly.
One of the customer has below requirement :
1. They have a host in production Host:xyz with few LUNs presented over that Server.
2. Now there is a requirement that this xyz host should be part of a host set with 2 new hosts.
3. So my plan is to add the host:xyz to the newly created host-set and it should work fine.
4. Then add the new hosts to the newly created host set, and this also should work fine.
5. After that, since we need already exported LUNs on the host-set, so we just present the volumes (which are already exported to xyz) to host set and that time we will see double LUNs on the host:xyz. How do we avoid this? can this cause any outage? can we do all this activity without downtime or we need to have downtime for this.

Hi Deepak,

Yes, you are right that would result in double LUN IDs which might result in data corruption, so please avoid these dual LUN IDs.

You can do this activity without down time if the number of LUNs exported to host XYZ are less.

Export already exported LUNs to new hosts individually with the same LUN ID as given to XYZ.

And then for the future LUNs you can directly export to host set so that the no confusion will be there in LUN ID.

But if the number of LUNs already exported to XYZ are huge then you have to do it using dwontime.

Unexport all the LUNs from XYZ and you can use Volume set which is directly exported to host set. This would work. (But I dont prefer using Volume Set.
