Hi!

I'm testing Oracle VM with 3PAR 7200 and I can not format a disk assigned to host an unknown error.

Other manufacturers offer plug-ins to their cabins.

Do you have any 3PAR plug-in or must give the disc in a special way?

Thank you.

No plugins and last I checked OVM wasn't officially supported on SPOCK, however you should follow the RHEL/OL Implementation guide here http://h20628.www2.hp.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c04448818-4.pdf If you decide to go live on this then I would look into asking your HP acct team about support.

We've been using OVM (currently ver. 3.2.8) with both 3par (7400) and VNX for nearly 2 years. There were no plugins required for either storage array. These are setup as Oracle generic FC storage using the Oracle generic SCSI plugin. This is one of the few areas of OVM that worked essentially as advertised.

As the previous reply said, you'll be out of luck if you call HP support and say the word "OVM". You might get in the door saying "OEL", but the supported versions of OEL only show up with OVM ver. 3.3.x.

Good luck ...

There is a process to provide support today however it's exception based so you need to highlight this and go through the process to ensure you have support in the event of a problem.
