Hi All,

We have our storage 7400 running at version 3.1.2 MU3. We have three tiers (SSD,FC,NL) with AO configured. As of now we are running out of space on our FC disks.

We are planning to upgrade to 3.2.1 and get the AFC enabled.

So my query is will AFC help us to move some data from FC to NL as we will have more space to keep the most frequent used data in second layer of cache i.e. SSD. And in the background some hot data will become cold and will be moved to NL by AO.

Am i right here? :D :D :D :D

Yours experts advises are highly appreciated.

Short answer: No.

If you want to force data down to NL you could specify a warning level for the FC cpg. AO will take into consideration and push data to SSD or NL.

Flash case will not do anything for AO. If you run out of space in a higher tier the array will still post the write to the lowest tier, not optimal, but it will not fail to write if the higher tier is out of space.
