We decided not to roll out compression or new dedupe TDVV3 for the next 6 months. 2 x systems 8450 are running fine with 3.3.1 but 2 x 20850 production systems will stay on 3.2.2 MU4. Ofcourse we counted on at least compression feature ..... . Is HPE communication to open ? In 2 weeks HPE was not willing to upgrade our 3PAR systems due to some issues (driver version emulex, risk for corrupting compression meta data and ....) Afterwards we were told the risk isn't that high ? |

We were also counting on being able to migrate to deduped volumes and turning compression on the applicable volumes. My calculations for needed space are going to be quite tight now, still awaiting an update from HPE on the hotfix. |

Patch 16 has been released for the compression issue. Of course it comes out the day after I spend 2 hours with HPE support turning off compression and tuning my VV's... |

Just had an 8440 stood up today and HPE installed 3.3.1 P16 on it. Code: Release version 3.3.1.215 Patches: P01,P02,P04,P06,P13,P16 I wanted to stick with the 3.2.2 stream but the DC power supplies require 3.3.1 ... hopefully this array won't need weekly patches Can't find the release notes for the patch though, will have to ask. |

We were told P16 would be released this week to fix the compression/dedupe issue on 3.3.1 GA only. P17 would be released a few weeks later for 3.3.1 MU1 installs. The 12th rings a bell but I didn't write it down. |

We have another issue with 3.3.1 mu1+p07+p11, which is currently under investigation by L3 support. When moving regions with tunesys or doing a compactcpg the storage halts sometimes when the regions are switched the backend pd io for roundabout 10 seconds. It does not happen always, but we had an outage through this issue. one two of our hyperv host unmounted a volume. |

So much for stable code....new bugs every week. I guess that's what happens when they cut R&D staffing (https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/09/28/hpe_closing_3par_belfast_engineering_office/) |

You might see on region switches between the node-pairs a frontend and backend I/O stall for 20 seconds. That's a node locking issue which currently is investigated by hpe. Through the issue we had an outage of 100 VMs. One of our hyperv hosts disconnected a lun because of this. |
