Guys,

HPE keep asking me to upgrade the 3pars, but they want to go to version 3.2.2 mu4. Just wondering if anyone knows why they don't recommend 3.3.1

I have asked HPE, but haven't had an answer the best i can get is

If you opt for 3.3.1EMU1 the only features that are available to 7K and 10K are
1. TPVV > 16TB (Per Release Notes)
2. Increase of SSD space from 460TB to 920TB (per the release notes and Quick Specs).
3. Garbage collection and stranded space reclamation from TDVV3 and the conversion.

I've asked them to confirm what options aren't available on a 7200 but I've had no reply

3.2.2 MU6 is also out.

Just my 0.02$, unless you need one of those features why upgrade? It would surprise me if the current 3.3.1 release would be "active" for many months after the next MU is released. Based on history I would assume 3.2.2 MU6 to be the final MU on 3.2.2 and will be active for a lot longer time, not forcing you into the next upgrade.

My understanding is that 3.2.2 MU4 & MU6 are the default go to versions for that platform, this is because those versions have the longest run time hours for that platform in the field. So unless you need specific features only available in 3.3.1 the best recommendation would be to remain on 3.2.2 until 3.3.1 becomes the default release for that particular platform.

For the vast majority of users the two most popular reasons for going 3.3.1 would probably be Compression which is not available for 7000 arrays and InfoSight, which I'm told should be back ported to 3.2.2 arrays in the coming months anyway.

So unless you need the features you listed there's probably little benefit to going 3.3.1 on the 7000 at this point.

3.2.2 MU6 is now default version for 7k/10k. (updated yesterday?)

Do yourself a favor go for 3.2.2, 3.3.1 has many other benefits, but it is still too unstable IMHO.

Please refer to the following link that HPE published a couple of weeks ago regarding the 7400:
