The replacement disk will be used by all CPGs which match the characteristics of the drive.

Showpd - c will show used chunklets

If you say which disk you have it would be easier to suggest a replacement.

Here is the command output

%showpd - c 22
-------- Normal Chunklets -------- ---- Spare Chunklets ----
- Used -- -------- Unused -------- - Used - ---- Unused ----
Id CagePos Type State Total OK Fail Free Uninit Unavail Fail OK Fail Free Uninit Fail
22 2:7:0 FC normal 2234 1044 0 1190 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 total 2234 1044 0 1190 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

The disk is ST3600057FC Seagate 600GB 15K FC

Thanks

Not an easy answer....
I'm assuming this is a F-class based on the output. The old p/n and spare part was QL253B / QL337A / 649889-001 ... There are multiple brokers selling these refurbished. Most likely your best bet.

And you can see that drive is in use.

I issue " showpdch -mov 22" on new disk that I replaced, but it show to me "No chunklet information available", is that normal status, because i can see all disks have chunklet except the new one that i replaced, even when issue "showpdch -mov" I did not find the new disk with PID:22 in the list

Did you follow the servicemag process?

Do you mean by "servicemag process" the below process, because this process that i followed:

1/cli% servicemag start -pdid 46

2/cli% showpd –space 46
Id CagePos Type -State- Size Volume Spare Free Unavail Failed
46 2:8:0? FC failed 417792 0 0 0 0 417792
---------------------------------------------------------------
1 total 417792 0 0 0

3/replaced disk

4/ servicemag resume 2 8

servicemag resume 2 8
Are you sure you want to run servicemag?
select q=quit y=yes n=no: y
servicemag resume 2 8
... onlooping mag 2 8
... upgrading firmware on pd WWN [****]...
... firmware is current on pd WWN [****] Id [46]
... checking for valid disks...
... checking for valid disks...
... disks in mag : 2 8
... normal disks: WWN [***] Id [22] diskpos [0]
... not normal disks: WWN [***] Id [46]
... playback chunklets from pd WWN [***] Id [22]

The servicemag resume operation will continue in the background.

Thanks

Not following what you have done at all.

PD 22 which you posted output from first, is installed in 2:7:0. Servicemag you have issued for the disk in 2:8:0.

showpdch -mov 22 should display the chunklets which are to be moved. Or more precisely from the CLI guide
Quote:
Specifies that information about chunklets that have moved, are scheduled to move, or are moving, is displayed.

If you want to see the chunklets on PD 22, you should only do showpdch 22.

This output:
Quote:
%showpd - c 22
-------- Normal Chunklets -------- ---- Spare Chunklets ----
- Used -- -------- Unused -------- - Used - ---- Unused ----
Id CagePos Type State Total OK Fail Free Uninit Unavail Fail OK Fail Free Uninit Fail
22 2:7:0 FC normal 2234 1044 0 1190 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 total 2234 1044 0 1190 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

Shows 2234 chunklets in total, 1044 of those are normal chunklets, used and labeled OK. 1190 is Unused normal chunklets which are free..... Weird thing is that it has 0 spare chunklets.

Maybe I mistype in forum, the output from first is 2:8,

cli% showpdch 22
I see the chunklet for all 2234
So can I say the new disk is working fine in production?

is that because new disk and need time, or there is something wrong?
