Hello, We have the following situation, we are using a 3par 7400 2-node with 10k and 15k rpm 300gb sas disks. I would like to know what the minimum of hard disk can be put into r5 CPG Thanks in advance |

depends on the what type of raid 5 you want 3+1 or 7+1 this decides the number of disk you need x the number of controllers , so x 2 k |

for a 7000 a sff cpg is at least 8 disks, lff is at least 12 disks k |

Why do you want to limit the amount of disks in a CPG? Utilise the wide striping and make ALL of your SAS drives into a single R5 CPG. Then use ALL of your SAS drives to make a R1 CPG. You will get much better performance at about 40-60GB written or more by using wide striping. The only time I ever restrict CPGs to specific hard disks is to test performance benifits of wide striping and illustrate that more drives in a CPG is better. |
