Nice...just what i wanted to hear. We have been trying to get on 3.3.1 to get around similar issues. We ran a tunesys on our 20840's and one had a 2 node panic which dropped the entire 8 node array. HPE said it was a issue in 3.2.2 and we were only one of two customers that hit the bug. It had to do with our storage layout...1's and 0's...not config. In order to finish the tunesys they logged in and set some setting which prevented the issue...but response times during the tunesys were horrible.

Good to know something else is lurking under 3.3.1. Let us know if they work on a patch for you. P17 sounds like it is still slated for the 12th which should fix the dedupe/compress issue.

We would like to provide important information regarding the 3PAR OS 3.3.1 Upgrade. Please read the advisory provided below:
Find the document at: http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/portal/site/ ... 26416en_us

Affected Item(s):
HPE 3PAR StoreServ 10000 Storage, HPE 3PAR StoreServ 20000 Storage, HPE 3PAR StoreServ 7000 Storage, HPE 3PAR StoreServ 8000 Storage, HPE 3PAR StoreServ 9000 Storage

Description:
For systems running any version of HPE 3PAR OS 3.3.1 that have Compression or Dedup+Compression (DECO) volumes, there is a small chance of an issue occurring that can cause a Compression or DECO volume to be in a metadata inconsistent state. If this occurs, an alert is generated with the message showing the impacted volume and “Failed (SD Meta inconsistent).” For systems connected to HPE Remote Support, a case will be created, and you will be contacted for remediation. If you are not connected to Remote Support, contact HPE support so that a case may be created. For all reported cases of this event, HPE has repaired the metadata, and there have been no lasting effects on user data. Until a permanent resolution is installed on the system, HPE advises NOT to create any Compression or DECO volumes.

In addition, upgrades to 3PAR OS 3.3.1 MU1 are on hold due to a separate issue that affects the upgrade process to 3.3.1 MU1

The above response is the current status from GDC when requesting the 3.3.1 MU1 upgrade today...

Thanks for the update, I was curious if the patch had been released yet but appears to still be on hold.

Looks like this is only available if you have updated the MU1, P16 is available for 3.3.1 GA though thanks for the heads up. I'm curious about the SP releases as well as per the notes for p13 I need version 5.0.1 minimum but don't see it as a download option anymore just 5.0.2.

Any release notes or bug fixes available? We have nodes randomly rebooting, RMC refuses to talk to our arrays now and all sorts of problems since upgrading to 3.3.1 MU1.... so much for better Q&A!

HPe updated today our 3Par 8200 from 3.3.1.269 (MU1)+P07 to 3.3.1.269 (MU1)+P07,P11,P14,P17, no problems so far.

HPe Engineer shared his desktop via HPe virtual room and I could read in his notes about a P18 not yet released but will be mandatory for 3.3.1 MU1, anyone has additional info?

Regards

Maria

Not sure if it will be in P18, but HPE said that even though patch 17 fixes the current metadata issue with DECO volumes, there is another compression issue that is far less wide spread. I believe they mentioned the middle of November for that one as well. Again, not sure if that is what P18 refers to.
