We are transistioning from an HPXP environment to a 3par environment. Currently there are business copies that stay in synchronous mode. When it is time to test the copies the target host exports everything, then the DB on the source host is put in standby while the copy catches up and the copy is split. The target host with the copies then has to import the luns to get everything to come up clean. So, with the virtual copies on 3par there is no synchronous copy going on.. the DB on the source is put in standby and the virtual copies are refreshed with one quick command.. so in theory, the target host should still have to export and reimport the virtual copies after the refresh correct? We did a test and the AIX guy says it worked but he never exported and imported the vols on the target host. Is there something that the 3par des differently that allows this to happen or did we just happen to do a test and there just weren't enough changes made to freak out the target system? I'm not a systems guy so not sure about the AIX.
