Hi,
Without optimization licences, how difficult would it be to move a LUN from one CPG to another.
I have Virtual Copy licenses and I'm hoping I can use these.
TIA
Kevin

Re: Move A VV
Interesting puzzle!
I just got my virtual copy license installed and have not had a chance to play yet. I do have D.O. and use it all the time. Regarding VC, it will be fun to experiment with setting the snap-space to the target CPG and playing around with options available to a snapshot lun (promote?replace? etc)... but as of today, I know little in that department, so I suggest:
1) The easy way - contact your Sales Engineer and get a demo license for D.O., use the right tool for the job.
2) Supported way - host unmounts the LUN (outage) and use the 3PAR gui to make a full copy the LUN to the new CPG. unexport the old lun, and export the new one with the same LUN # and remount on host.
Hope that helps!

Hi,
I did exactly what you're trying to do a few weeks ago on one of the 3PAR training courses (with a windows host)... Make a snapshot on the new CPG, then went through promoting it to the primary... it all worked the first time with seemingly no issues, but, I'd suggesting tetsting it first if you have the kit to do so... I can probably dig out the exact instructions if it'd help?
Cheers,
Will
