I think this may be a good location for this b/c the thread is pinned and it would be good info..
Can anyone explain the software version, patch, release naming convention? How to make sense out of it? How do you know what is what and how to apply the sw in what order?
Take this from the OS 3.1.2 Release Note:
HP 3PAR OS 3.1.2.278 (GA),
HP 3PAR OS 3.1.2.322 (MU1),
HP 3PAR OS 3.1.2.422 (MU2),
HP 3PAR OS 3.1.2.422 (EMU2),
HP 3PAR OS 3.1.2.484 (MU3),
HP 3PAR OS 3.1.2.592 (MU5).
Then, on the sw update page, you have this sort of thing:
3.1.2 MU1 P05
3.1.2 GA-MU1 P04
3.1.2 GA P07
MU = Maintenance UPdate
GA = General Availability
EMU = ?
How does one know what is actually required to simply apply a single patch?
Just trying to make sense of the nomenclature. I can't find anything in my ServiceOne Intallation manual that explains what all that means.
Thanks!
EMU stands for "Enhanced Maintenance Update"
essentially it is an MU + other features that were found/resolved after the original MU came out
